When I sat down for my first Music Therapy seminar at University of Southampton I had no idea what to expect. I had never heard of the profession before and had chosen the module purely out of curiosity.

Now, three years after graduating, I have just secured my first job as a music therapist having completed a Masters in Music Therapy training course.

I had not realised it would turn out to be the best module choice I ever made! I was completely inspired by the work we were shown – it made a lot of sense to me that music could do so much more to help other people. I really enjoyed the module content, particularly learning about the different approaches and setting up my own placement at a residential care home. Now, three years after graduating, I have just secured my first job as a music therapist having completed a Masters in Music Therapy training course. It has been an incredible and at times difficult journey to get to this point but I feel so lucky to now have a career where I can make music with people from all walks of life.
