Southampton Academics Awarded Macgeorge Fellowship

Published: 18 December 2008

Two Southampton staff members have been jointly named to the prestigious Macgeorge Fellowship at the University of Melbourne for 2008.

Professors Jeanice Brooks and Mark Everist will spend eight weeks in residence at the University of Melbourne working on research projects and giving public lectures. The Macgeorge Fellowships are destined for established artists, performers, writers and researchers in the visual, creative and performing arts, music, architecture, conservation, literature, creative writing, language, history, philosophy and anthropology. The fellowships are provided through a bequest made by Norman Macgeorge (1872-1952), artist and patron of the arts, who left his house and estate to the University of Melbourne to encourage development of the arts and art scholarship.
