Holloway performances at home and abroad

Published: 23 May 2011

Summer 2011 sees high-profile performances of the work of George Holloway, Southampton postgraduate composer.

In May, Southampton alumnus Sam Cave will premiere Holloway's Guitar Sonata at the inaugural concert of the International Composers Collective at the Forge in Camden, London.

Further afield, Holloway's work Media Vita, for string orchestra, receives its first professional performances on 23 May in Vilnius, and on 28 May in Druskininkai, Lithuania, as part of the Druskomanija festival. It will be performed by Lithuania's top chamber orchestra, the St Christopher Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Donatus Katkus.

And on July 16th, Holloway's two-year participation in the Adopt-a-Composer scheme comes to fruition with a performance of Meltwater, an 18-minute cantata for choir and orchestra, which will be recorded by BBC Radio 3. The Adopt-a-Composer scheme is run jointly by the PRSF, Sound and Music, and Making Music - follow the link on the right to read George's thoughts on the collaborative process and to learn more about the scheme.
