18th-century musical score

Music at Southampton is hosting award holders for two prestigious international scholarship funds this year.

Rachel Landgren from the University of Melbourne has received an Endeavor Award to undertake primary research for her PhD thesis on singing technique and early music revival in the twentieth century. Julia Hamilton, who is in the final year of her undergraduate study at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusettes, has gained a Fulbright award to undertake the MA in 18th-Century Studies with a musical project. Julia's cross-disciplinary research proposal, around translations of Richardson's Pamela in British operatic and theatre culture, helped her win one of the most prestigious and competitive postgraduate studentships available for US students to study in the UK. The award also recognizes Southampton's international reputation in musicology and 18th-century studies.
