Music at Southampton is celebrating a double success as two books by members of the department's staff are listed as finalists in the 2019 PROSE Awards.

Women and Music in Sixteenth-Century Ferrara by Emeritus Professor Laurie Stras and The Cambridge History of Medieval Music by Professor Mark Everist, co-edited with Thomas Forrest Kelly, have placed as finalists in the 'Music and Performing Arts' and 'Multivolume Reference/Humanities' categories respectively, for the 2019 Association of American Publishers PROSE Awards.

Since 1976, the Association of American Publishers Awards for Professional and Scholarly Excellence [PROSE Awards] have recognized publishers who produce books, journals, and digital products of extraordinary merit that make a significant contribution to a field of study in a given year. A panel of 18 judges reviewed more than 500 entries across 49 subject categories in this year’s competition.
