Event details

During term-time the Music Department holds a series of free lunchtime concerts at 1pm for the benefit of our students, staff, and the local community. On Mondays you will hear professional musicians, including our own performance teachers, taking the stage so that our students are exposed to the entire spectrum of music making. We invite prominent musicians and the best up-and-coming talent from Britain and abroad. The programmes will delight you, entertain you, and perhaps even challenge you. Workshops are offered after some of the concerts, and you’re very welcome to stay on for these. You can talk to the artists and see them interact with our students.

Veryan Weston, piano

“An unusually cliché-free pianist” (Cowley, The Wire 2003), Weston presents his own composition, Tessellations. Visual interlocking symmetries and geometric shapes are transferred to the audible world of pitches, rhythm and counterpoint, with the spirit and energy of jazz, improvisation and folk music at the heart of the performance.
