Event details

A flute recital as part of Mexico Week 2012

Elena Durán, Mexico City’s Ambassador, is one of the world’s most charismatic flute players. Accompanied by pianist, broadcaster and University of Southampton’s Professor of Musical Performance, David Owen Norris, she introduces and plays music by her friend, the great composer Manuel Esperón, who wrote more than nine hundred songs and the scores for five hundred films. Each song is accompanied by clips from movies of the ‘Golden Ages of Mexican Cinema’ for which Esperón wrote the scores.

With clips from the Epoca de Oro of Mexican Cinema.

In association with Turner Sims and part of University of Southampton’s Centre for Mexico-Southampton Collaboration.
