2013/14 sees the beginning of a new relationship between the music department at Southampton and Manama, which is an advanced Masters programme in contemporary music performance run by the Belgian ensembles Ictus and Spectra alongside the Ghent Conservatory. This year we are collaborating on a two-phase project that involves six Manama students and a trio of Southampton postgraduate composers.

This first phase of the project will see the Manama students visiting Southampton to present music and instrumental techniques they have been working on as well as trying out sketches by postgraduate composers. The second phase will take place in March 2014 and will feature rehearsals and performances of the completed student compositions.
