Seasonal Noëls

Elizabeth Kenny's Theatre of the Ayre scored a critical hit in 2010 with its Turner Sims performance of John Blow's Venus and Adonis, subsequently recorded for the Wigmore Hall Live label. This evening the ensemble is joined by three outstanding interpreters of French Baroque vocal music for an Advent programme of sacred and secular pieces by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, composer to the French dauphin and Molière's Comédie-Française. The concert includes Charpentier's pastorale Actéon and one of his grandest dramatic Christmastide motets.

With seasonal French music played in the foyer from 7.10pm by members of Theatre of the Ayre with wind players from the University music department.
