Event details

A baroque flute recital with harpsichordist David Gordon

Fresh from a tour with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, baroque flautist Georgia Browne will be joined by British harpsichord wizard David Gordon for a virtuosic duo recital featuring the incredible flute music of J.S. Bach.

As a harpsichordist David Gordon has worked with Andrew Manze, Nigel Kennedy and ensembles The English Concert and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. A prize-winning composer and an established jazz pianist, David regularly collaborates with singer Jacqui Dankworth. He also is a founding member of innovative early music/jazz group Respectable Groove.

Flautist Georgia Browne is in demand as a soloist, orchestral player and teacher. Performing on a selection of replica and original historical flutes Georgia is regularly invited to perform with Ensemble Pygmalion, the English Concert, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Dunedin Consort, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the English National Opera. She is currently lecturer in flute at Southampton University.

Free admission.

Georgia will be leading a workshop with students from the Music Department on Tuesday 28 January as an introduction to the Baroque flute. Full details are available using the link in the top right hand corner.
