John Milton wrote words for Comus; Henry Lawes composed the music. Theirs was a close and adventurous partnership.
Cut Down Comus
features all the surviving Henry Lawes songs, instrumental pieces by William Lawes, extracts from Milton’s text and gives a good impression of the original visual effects (Professor Maria Hayward has selected images for projection). If you enjoyed Liz Kenny’s
Masque of Moments
in Turner Sims back in 2008 or Acteon last Christmas, don’t miss this.
