Event details

Southampton's musical tribute to the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt: the watergate through which Henry and his archers embarked for France still stands in the city walls. Featuring Agincourt music by Walter Leigh, Sir William Walton, and a world premiere by David Owen Norris.

The Southampton University Symphony Orchestra pre-term course will culminate in this Agincourt concert, featuring Sir William Walton’s Henry V suite, Walter Leigh’s overture Agincourt and the premiere of David Owen Norris’s new piece, Turning Points, which was featured on Radio 4’s Today Programme.

The rising young actor Hasan Dixon will take the part of Henry V in the Walton, and he will also lend his voice to a Walter Leigh presentation to be made by Dr. Tom Irvine. Pianists, guitarists and the Southampton University Brass Band will perform in David’s piece – the first time they have collaborated with SUSO – and the concert, conducted by Joe Beckhelling, also features the New London Chamber Choir, Highcliffe Junior Choir, organist Duncan Bradley, and vocal soloists Amanda Pitt, Mark Wilde and Peter Savidge.

Tickets: £15/£10/£5
