This Friday 13 October we are delighted to welcome Jack Wyllie, composer and saxophonist from the Portico Quartet, as a guest speaker from 1-2pm at the Turner Sims. You can find out about the band here: http://porticoquartet.com/
Dan Mar-Molinero has kindly arranged for Jack to talk to students about the band’s music, being nominated for the Mercury Prize and how their career went from busking at the South Bank Centre to world tours and several acclaimed albums. The group are part of a new-wave of instrumental acts whose music is very difficult to define using traditional genre labels - they’ve been called everything from ‘Post-Jazz’ to ‘Electronica’ to ‘Ambient’.
