Event details

The next Arts Council supported PLAYLIST concert showcases two Music Department connections at The Dancing Man Brewery, an award-winning brewhouse steeped in history within a wonderful 14th century building on Southampton’s Town Quay.

Headliners VŌS feature Music Department graduate Robin Pearkes and are currently making waves on BBC6 Music’s BBC Introducing mixtapes. A new electropop outfit from London, they are described as “mellow and mesmerising…(with) sheer class and elegance.” They will perform a stripped-back version of their set for PLAYLIST for a chilled Sunday evening – catch their latest releases on Spotify or Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/thisisvos.

Additionally, we are delighted to have members of SÓN, Southampton’s professional orchestra, coming together specially for PLAYLIST. Their Artistic Director, Robin Browning, works with conducting students from the Music Department, with many of their players also teaching students from across the University on the Music Department’s performance modules. Fresh from their successful opening concert of the season at Turner Sims last month, five members will come together for an intimate PLAYLIST performance of Prokofiev’s Quintet in G minor for oboe, clarinet and string trio.

This eclectic evening is completed with a performance by MOBO Award nomicated vocalist, writer and cellist Ayanna Witter-Johnson, who Time Out claim “…has to be heard to be believed. Her self-assured style blends a honey-sweet vocal delivery with bewitching cello-playing.”

Tickets are limited and selling fast – please book in advance via soplaylist.eventbrite.com to secure your seat at this exclusive event and hear the music we want to hear. Advance tickets cost £8, or £6 for under 26s.
