Event details

Presented by Southampton University Symphony Orchestra Following four back-to-back sets of record-breaking ticket sales, SUSO launched its first December concert of the 2017/18 season in exactly the way it hopes to continue. On its upward trajectory towards the 100th anniversary celebrations, we now announce our partnership with Russian-British soloist Dunja Lavrova, who has astonished audiences in Russia and Europe performing Dvorak’s Violin Concerto. Known as one of the most difficult violin concertos in the repertoire, the beautiful sweeping melodies coupled with her ingenious musicality make this a performance not to be missed. In the spirit of SUSO’s annual Gala concert, A London Symphony by Vaughan Williams provides a perfect showcase opportunity for some of the best classical musicians at the University. You will be swept through the bustling streets of London before taking a stroll down the River Thames as the bells of Westminster ring in your ears. The programme is rounded out with one of Johannes Brahms’ greatest works, his Tragic Overture. This concert is likely to sell out so book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
