The University of Southampton’s Music Department showcases the final performances of MMUS Music Students. Recitals will take place during the evenings from 16 – 19 September 2019 at either Turners Sims or The Brook. Admission is free and open to the public.

Variety is probably the best word to describe my programme. From operatic arias to folk song, from German to French, from Gluck to Huang Zi.

Performer: Cristina Grigore, flute
Cristina Grigore is a Romanian flautist. She came to the University of Southampton to pursue a Master's degree in Performance after finishing her Bachelor's degree at the National University of Music Bucharest, Romania. She particularly enjoys playing modern and contemporary music, and for her last recital she chose a variety of Romantic, Modern and Contemporary pieces.

The recital’s repertory is broad, including works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Yannis Konstantinidis and Arvo Pärt. “Fratres” by Arvo Part with its minimal character was the initial idea that shaped the rest of the repertory. Each piece resembles part of who the violinist is either as a musician or a person generally.
