3D X-ray Histology (XRH) facility at the BIU/UHS

Biomedical Imaging Unit - X-ray Histology facility,
Mailpoint 12, Laboratory and Pathology Block,
University Hospital Southampton,
Tremona Road, Southampton, SO16 6YD.

The XRH facility is locate in the University Hospital Southampton. We operate two scanning laboratories on Levels A and B of the Laboratory and Pathology / South Academic Block. Visitors are kindly requested to check in the Biomedican Imaging Unit ( BIU ). If you've never been there here is how to find it:

BIU is on Level B in the South Academic Block. The easiest way to reach us is to give us a call when you reached the main entrance lobby and we will come and collect you. If you wish to brave it:

  1. when you reached the main entrance lobby...
  2. walk through the "shopping mall" (level C) and turn right at the end of the "mall"
  3. pass through the lift lobby and take the first corridor on your left (signed for South Academic Block)
  4. Walk about 50 m along this corridor until it opens out as a lift lobby on your right hand side
  5. Take the lift or stairs down one level to the Level B lift lobby
  6. There is a locked door in the corner of the lobby next to the WCs (the keycode would have been provided beforehand - but more often than not the door is unlocked)
  7. Enter the corridor behind the door - BIU is accessed through the door at the far right hand end of this corridor

For more details please also see BIU page here: https://www.southampton.ac.uk/biu/about/location.page and the map below.
