3D X-ray Histology (XRH)

The XRH team

3D X-ray Histology team is a highly dynamic and multidisciplinary team of scientist and engineers. Since 2023 the facility is led by Dr Orestis L. Katsamenis and the core team core includes Dr Phil Basford and Dr Stephanie Robinson.

The core team receives additional support from the entire μ-VIS team, as well as a diverse array of academics and imaging specialists. This collaborative effort includes contributors from the "Foundations for routine 3D X-ray Histology (XRH) project", the Biomedical Imaging Unit (BIU), and the Histochemistry Research Facility (HRF) teams.

Prof. Philipp Schneider

Professor Philipp Schneider (PI)

Fmr Director (Academic) & Academic Theme Leader μ-VIS,

Philipp Schneider is a Professor in Biomedical Imaging. He led the Wellcome Trust-funded Biomedical Resource and Technology Development project in Engineering and Medicine at UoS to establish the foundations for 3D X-ray histology (XRH) | www.xrayhistology.org

Dr Peter Lackie (BA, MA, PhD)
Dr Peter Lackie (BA, MA, PhD)

Dr Peter Lackie (co-I)

Visiting Fellow within Medicine at the University of Southampton
Fmr Academic Lead, Biomedical Imaging Unit (Ret)

Peter led and coordinated the biomedical aspects of the development of correlative 3D imaging, particularly of human lung. New approaches for the analysis and display of 3D lung datasets from µCT, light sheet microscopy, immunofluorescence and electron microscopy are being applied. At the time he was an Associate Professor in the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences, Faculty of Medicine.
