Dr. Chin Vun Jack BEng (Hons), PhD
Assistant Professor , Electrical and Electronic Engineering Lecturer

Dr. Chin Vun Jack is an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. In 2013, Dr. Chin graduated amongst the top of his cohort with bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with first-class honours in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. He was the recipient of the university’s Vice Chancellor's Award. Subsequently, he was awarded a PhD at University Teknologi Malaysia for his contribution in developing advanced soft-computing based techniques for the performance characterization of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. In 2018, he joined Centre of Electrical Energy Systems (CEES) as a postdoctoral research fellow, where he actively published on practical techniques to enhance the computation models for solar PV systems. Amongst which, his work was adopted for rapid simulation of partially shaded PV arrays and was featured in PV magazine. Dr. Chin serves as an active reviewer for IEEE, IET, and Elsevier journals.
At UoSM, Dr. Chin is involved in the delivery of several courses, including Control Systems and Communications, Power Electronics and Drives, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Design, and Power Circuits and Transmission. His current research interests include the optimization of renewable energy systems, and the application of machine learning techniques for the parameter identification, fault diagnosis and performance optimization of solar PV systems.
