Dr. Wong Kok Hoe is a lecturer in the Mechanical department at University of Southampton Malaysia.

He obtained his BEng degree in CAD/CAM Engineering, MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering and PhD degree from University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2010, 2013, and 2019 respectively. He conducted his research internship at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Canada in 2018 under the Canada-ASEAN scholarship. Before joining UMSC, he worked with Daikin R&D centre from 2010 to 2014 as a design engineer responsible for air-cooled rooftop packaged air-conditioning unit development and testing. His research focus is on wind energy, especially micro vertical axis wind turbine and product design. Together with his research team, he has won several special and gold awards in invention and innovation expos, and this includes PECIPTA, MTE, EINIX, IIDEX, National Intellectual Property Award as well as a WIPO medal. Dr Wong served as a technical committee member for the International conference on Sustainable Energy and Green Technology (SEGT) and is a reviewer for Energy, Energy Reports, Sustainable Energy Technologies and Assessment, and International Journal of Sustainable Energy.

Research interests

Wind Energy, Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, CFD, Product design and manufacturing.
