Dr Maruf Salimon is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Southampton Malaysia Business School, University of Southampton Malaysia.

He received his PhD in Marketing from Universiti Utara Malaysia in 2016. Prior to that, he has attained his MBA, Master’s in Managerial psychology (MMP), and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Nigeria, University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria respectively. He equally attended Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria where he received his National Diploma in Business Studies and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration. Maruf is a full member of Institute Strategic Management Nigeria, an Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, and an Associate Member, Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered). 

Before joining University of Southampton Malaysia, he had worked with Universiti Utara Malaysia as a Senior Lecturer from February 2017-August 2022. During his period at the University, he chaired Journal Establishment Committee and was a member of other several school committees. Prior to his academic career, Maruf worked with four major commercial and retail banks in Nigeria where he served in different capacities within the banking operations.  

Research interests

His research area includes consumer behavior with a focus on technology adoption. He also ventures into marketing innovation, TQM, and entrepreneurial marketing among others. He has experience as a leader or co-investigator of research grants. He was a member of research team that won government sponsored research grant (Malaysia FRGS) that worth RM 85,800.00 (Eighty-five thousand eight hundred ringgit only) at Universiti Utara Malaysia. The research grant focuses on how Malaysian SMEs adopt Internet of Everything (IoE) to improve resilience.

Maruf publishes his works through some reputable and international journals in his areas of interest either as a leading author or as a co-researcher. His publications can be found in his Google Scholar page.

He has some experience in teaching various modules at Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels. His teaching includes but not limited to Digital Business Module, Digital Marketing Applications, Digital Technologies in Business, Marketing in the 21st century, Integrated Marketing Communication Design, Research Methodology, Academic Writing, Marketing Management, Principles of Marketing, Consumer Behavior and so on.
