Dr Mihai Rotaru is the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) lead at USMC, running all operational aspects of the programme in Malaysia.

I teach courses that open the door into the amazing and fascinating world of engineering electromagnetism, which I am very passionate about

Dr Rotaru is an electrical engineer and his main research interest is in applied electromagnetism. He is especially interested in modelling and simulation of devices and structures that interact with electromagnetic fields, with a particular interest in efficient and fast simulation of electromagnetic metamaterials and their possible applications in anything from bio sensing to improving the wireless power transfer efficiency for power application. He also has a keen interest in analysing and solving signal and power integrity problems in complex electronic systems.

Dr Rotaru joined the University of Southampton as a lecturer in 2007 and currently teaches Applied Electromagnetics, Circuits and Transmission, and Electric Materials and Fields - courses that cover the basis of applied electromagnetics and open the door into the amazing and fascinating world of engineering electromagnetism, which I am very passionate about.

Prior to joining the University, Dr Rotaru was with ASTAR, Institute of Microelectronics Singapore, leading the Electrical & Optical Design group within Microsystems, Modules and Components Laboratory. During his time at ASTAR he worked on various aspects of signal and power integrity problems for high speed and RF packaging applications.
