Professor Kristo Radion Purba
Assistant Professor
Kristo is an Assistant Professor of computer science at the University of Southampton Malaysia.
He is a data scientist, focusing on social media, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. He has published many high impact journals especially on Instagram analytics and machine learning predictions. He was a data scientist at MeCan App, Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian e-commerce company, to deliver analytical solutions to improve sales and engagement. He is certified in advanced data science by IBM.
He has experience both in academia and industry. He was a full-time lecturer at Petra Christian University Indonesia for four years, and a system analyst at PT. HM Sampoerna Tbk, Indonesia. He is actively working in developing company software, games, mobile apps (Android and iOS), and websites since 2008. His significant projects include the development of MyKidneyDiet, a mobile phosphate tracker application supported by the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia, and the academic information system (outcome-based education) for Petra Christian University. He is an expert in many programming languages such as Java, Python, PHP, MySQL, and others. He was awarded a full PhD scholarship by Taylor's University Malaysia in 2018.
