Southampton announces new scholarships for Electrical and Electronic Engineering students

Published: 26 June 2013

The University of Southampton is delighted to announce a new scholarship, which offers a 25 per cent fee discount to the top 10 first-year MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) students at the Malaysia Campus for 2013 entry.

The scholarships are being offered to celebrate the launch of the new EEE programme, which has recently received full approval from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). All applicants are automatically considered and will be required to attend an interview for the scholarship.

The EEE programme will commence this autumn. The MQA approval follows the completion of a successful assessment exercise to ascertain that the teaching, learning and other related activities of the EEE programme have met the quality standards and in compliance with the Malaysian government.

The degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering joins Southampton’s undergraduate MEng in Mechanical Engineering, which enrolled its first students in 2012. The University is proud to offer these two flagship programmes through its Malaysia Campus.

The new EEE scholarships are in addition to the existing high-achievement scholarships (open to new students joining the University's EEE and Mechanical Engineering programmes at its Malaysia campus).

Professor Neil White, Head of Electronics and Computer Science at the University, says: "The University of Southampton offers a unique opportunity for students in Malaysia and we are pleased to offer these new scholarships, which increases the number of scholarships available to EEE students".

Southampton is recognised as world-leading for Electronics and Computer Science and has achieved fantastic rankings in each of the most recent league tables. It has been ranked as number one in the UK for the fourth year in a row for Electrical and Electronic Engineering according to The Guardian University Guide.
