Studying at the Malaysia Campus will give you access to the new world class sports complex within EduCity. Facilities include a multi-use indoor stadium for badminton, futsal, basketball and volleyball, an outdoor stadium with a full size football pitch, an Olympic sized swimming pool as well as an indoor gym. There will be minimal fee for usage of the facilities.

Students’ Activities

A variety of activities and clubs have been formed by students for students at the Malaysia Campus. You will find out more during your induction week, and please speak to your student representatives if you have any further ideas for other activities; more are always welcome.

Safety

At the University of Southampton we take the safety and security of our students very seriously. We have a dedicated security service that operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year and is always available to assist students, staff and visitors with any security related issues.

You can also take some sensible precautions with regard to your own safety, and that of your valuables. Make sure valuables like laptops, iPods, printers and phones are kept out of sight and reach of windows and keep your windows and doors locked even when you are in SV.

If you have a car at university, make sure you don't leave valuables on display and keep your doors locked at all times.

Avoid walking home alone at night time and avoid using your mobile phone and/or iPod. Make sure you take well-lit main roads home rather than dark, quiet short cuts. Use designated pedestrian walk–ways whenever possible.

Report anything suspicious to the campus security officer on 490 (if it’s not an emergency), dial 07-560 2490 from your mobile or phone 999 in an emergency. Similarly in SV, please contact your warden.

General information

Mobile phone
You can purchase a pre-paid sim card to use with your existing mobile phone to get connected to the internet and to call home. There are many service providers available such as Maxis, Celcom, Digi, UMobile etc. These sim cards can easily be purchased from any local convenience shop like 7-Eleven, petrol kiosk or any mobile phone shops around the area.

Electricity supply
The voltage used in Malaysia is 230/240 Volts – 50 Hz. We strongly recommend that you bring a transformer or converter if your electrical appliances use 110/120 Volts. This will prevent damage to your electrical appliances. If your electrical appliances use similar voltage with the one in Malaysia, a wall outlet adapter is sufficient.
