Please note the information on this page is designed for students who arrived in the UK in 2019. The information will be updated once the key dates and activities have been confirmed for students transitioning in 2020.

You will need to apply for a Tier 4 (general) visa to study at the University of Southampton’s UK campus.

Our meet and greet service

Meet and Greet Service 2019

To help make your arrival in the UK as easy as possible, we are providing a free Meet and Greet Service from London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

For MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics students and MEng Mechanical Engineering students please arrive on

Sunday 15 September at London Heathrow Airport only.

 

For MEng EEE students and Foundation Year students you can arrive on the following dates at London Heathrow or London Gatwick Airports:

We will be at the airport to meet you and there will be a free coach service to take you to your chosen accommodation in Southampton (university and private rented accommodation).

For more information please book a place on the Meet and Greet Service. You can also book a bedding pack for your accommodation, if required). The deadline for booking a place is Friday 30 August at 5pm (UK time).

Please note that the Meet and Greet coach service is for students only. If there are seats available, your friends and family members may be able to join you on the coach but priority will be given to students. If there are no places on the coach for your friends or family we will help them find another form of transport to get to Southampton.

If you are not planning to use our Meet and Greet Service and you need information on how to get to the University, please visit our Visit Us site.

University Halls of Residence

 

Bedding Packs

We do not provide bedding packs, however they may be purchased at your halls reception or can be booked through the Meet and Greet Service booking form (see above).  The bedding packs cost £20 and consist of a duvet, duvet cover, pillow, pillow cover and sheet. 

 

Electrical Products

Please do not bring electrical products for your kitchen or bedroom from your home country as you will not be allowed to use them in our halls of residence because of health and safety regulations. You can buy items such as kettles, rice cookers and hair dryers when you arrive in the UK, either online or from local stores. Mobile devices and computers are permitted.

Insurance

If you live in halls you are automatically covered by the University's contents insurance policy. This means your personal belongings may be replaced if they are stolen or damaged. It is important that you check the  terms and conditions of the policy so that you understand what is included in the insurance cover. You may need to buy additional cover, for example if you want cover for a bicycle.

Referral exams are in August

Referral Examinations

Students undertaking referral examinations after Semester 2 of Part II

University of Southampton Malaysia students who transition to the UK in 2019 for Part III, and who need to take referral examinations in the supplementary exam period, will need to sit these examinations at the University of Southampton Malaysia. The examination period is Monday 19 August to Friday 30 August 2019 (excluding the Bank Holiday on Monday 26 August 2019). Students’ personal timetables are available on SUSSED by Wednesday 31 July 2019. For further questions, please contact exams@southampton.ac.uk or +44(0)23 8059 2383.

If you do not successfully progress to Part III, you have the option of repeating Part II at the University of Southampton Malaysia or in the UK. If you choose to repeat Part II in the UK, you will need to speak to the Visas Team to obtain visa guidance at visa@southampton.ac.uk or + 44(0)23 8059 9599.
