The University of Southampton
Global Network for Anti-Microbial Resistance and Infection Prevention

Facilities

The University of Southampton has world class facilities for research into antimicrobial resistance including:-

The μ-VIS Centre

The μ-VIS Centre offers Multidisciplinary, Multiscale, Microtomographic Volume Imaging.

The Science and Engineering Electron Microscopy Centre

The centre houses strategic research facilities for the microstructural characterisation of materials by high resolution imaging and micro-area chemical analysis.

 The 'Thick Film' Unit

In the Thick Film unit, devices are typically built up in layers by printing the active materials of the sensors onto a variety of different support media (substrates). Most commonly ceramic but increasingly steel, plastics and other materials are used.

The National Centre for Advanced Tribology (nCATS)

nCATS has access to the surface engineering and tribology facilities for measurement and analysis at both the University of Southampton and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), in the areas of Sliding friction/wear; Erosion; Corrosion; Abrasion wear; Characterisation and Properties of materials/coatings.

The NIHR Wellcome Trust Southampton Clinical Research Facility

Within this facility, on-call research fellows and quality-assured clinical and laboratory resources enable early-stage and complex late-stage research to be performed with confidence, with over 250 different clinical trials in progress at any one time.
