Today NAMRIP held a meeting focused on Global-NAMRIP, with presentations and discussions.

The first was by Professor Leighton on the transition from an EPSRC-funded model for NAMRIP to the new model. Tim highlighted the contributions made by NAMRIP in its first two years, including the research projects, the translation, the public and policy engagement, and the development of Global-NAMRIP. He highlighted the conference next year that NAMRIP will hold in Ghana.

He then introduced George Wak, who is visiting NAMRIP on a Fellowship from the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, hosted by himself and Jim Wright from the School of Geography. George then talked about the Navrongo Health Research Centre, the research and translation undertaken there, and the opportunities to collaborate with NAMRIP, including the nascent 'StarHealer: Project Navrongo'.

Professor Leighton presented George with a gift from NAMRIP, and this led into the final talk, by Parwez Hossain on his collaboration with engineers to produce a rapid diagnostic for eye infections using microfluidics. The meeting closed following a Q&A with the three speakers.
