Study title: Narrator: preparatioN, Assessment and use of impact plans in NIHR standaRd ApplicaTion fORms

Study description: Tracking and assessing the benefits to society resulting from research activities, as well as how public funds are used to support research and how challenges are faced by research funders across the world. In the UK, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) is developing approaches to monitor impact and research performance. Researchers applying to the NIHR funding programmes are required to develop route to impact plans as part of the application.

This study aims to enhance the value of the route to impact plan by exploring applicants’ mechanism to planning for impact and generating evidence on the assessment of these plans by NIHR funding committees, encouraging conversations that support funding decision-making.

Current study status: Data collection.
