Rankings show Southampton is world-class
The University of Southampton is one of only 29 British universities to be listed in the World University rankings published today in the Times Higher Education Supplement (THES).
The University appears in the international top 200, with a ranking of 141. Britain has more new entrants than any other country, with 29 universities in the top 200, up from 23 last year.
The rankings are based on a survey for the THES of 3,703 academics worldwide, who were asked to identify up to 30 universities best for research within their own field of expertise. The table also includes data from 736 graduate employers from around the world, as well as the ratio of faculty to student numbers and a university’s success in attracting foreign students and internationally renowned academics.
University of Southampton Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bill Wakeham, said: "I am delighted that Southampton’s global reputation for excellence has been recognised in this table."
