Government Minister discusses human rights at the University of Southampton
The Rt Hon John Denham MP, Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, will be at the University of Southampton on Thursday 8 November to give the 12th Gabriele Ganz Lecture on Public Law.
Mr Denham, who is a graduate of the University and Labour MP for Southampton Itchen, will be discussing 'Human rights, democracy and the rule of law'.
The lecture is given every year at the University in honour of Professor Gabi Ganz, an expert in public law who retired from the University's School of Law twelve years ago. The lecture has attracted a host of distinguished speakers over the years, including Geoffrey Robertson QC, The Earl of Selborne and Richard Thomas, Information Commissioner and graduate of the University's School of Law.
The lecture begins at 6pm in Physics lecture theatre A, Building 46, on the University's Highfield campus. The lecture is free and will be chaired by the University's Vice-Chancellor Professor Bill Wakeham.
