Winter graduations to celebrate students’ success

Published: 14 December 2009

The University of Southampton will be hosting graduation ceremonies for more than 800 students later this week.

For the second year, students can elect to attend a winter ceremony, enabling those who were awarded degrees in the autumn to graduate within a few weeks or months rather than wait until the summer.

Looking ahead to hosting his first University of Southampton Graduation, Vice-Chancellor Professor Don Nutbeam, comments: "Graduation is the highlight of the University year and provides us with the opportunity to congratulate our students on their achievements.

"They will join an alumni community of tens of thousands of Southampton graduates across the world who are making significant contributions to wider society and their chosen fields. I wish them the very best for the future."

The graduation ceremonies take place on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 December in the Turner Sims on the University’s Highfield campus.

There will be seven events with students from six Schools taking part: Humanities, Ocean and Earth Science, Art, Electronics and Computer Science, Health Sciences and Psychology.
