The Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, Mr Dipak Misra

The University of Southampton is delighted to welcome the Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India, Mr Dipak Misra, to speak on the emerging jurisprudence of constitutional ethos and morality in India.

Earlier this month Justice Misra announced a landmark ruling by Supreme Court of India to decriminalise homosexuality in the country, ending a law that dated back to the colonial era. He will address students and staff at the university on Friday 21st September, shortly before he retires from the post on 2nd October.

This event is organised as part of the Southampton-India Distinguished Lecture Series, and hosted by the Southampton Law School under the Faculty of Social Sciences. This series of talks will address a range of challenging topics within the broader areas of human wellbeing and sustainable development in India and their implications both in the region and around the world.

A read out of Justice Misra’s talk will be available on this website following the lecture.
