The partnership with Cambridge Education Group will enhance Southampton's global reach.

The University of Southampton is pleased to announce the launch of a new partnership with Cambridge Education Group, to provide Foundation and Pre-Master’s programmes for international students.

The University will work with Cambridge Education Group to enable international students to progress onto Southampton’s degrees, strengthening the institution’s international community and add to its vibrancy.

Professor Alex Neill, Vice-President (Education) at the University of Southampton, says: “We’ve partnered with Cambridge Education Group to enhance our global reach in education and attract outstanding students from across the world to the University. Students joining the pathway programmes will study a rigorous academic curriculum, while improving their English language proficiency and settling into the fantastic student life that the University and city of Southampton offer. We look forward to welcoming them to our community.”

Cambridge Education Group offers specially designed pathway programmes to help students gain the English language and learning standards they need to succeed onto one of our undergraduate or master’s programmes.

Cambridge Education Group opened their first centres in 2008 and have since enrolled over 20,000 students across the UK, Europe and the USA. They have pathway partnerships at a number of highly ranked global universities including the University of Amsterdam (61 in QS 2020-21 rankings), Lund University (97 in QS rankings) and University of London institutions including Queen Mary, Royal Holloway and SOAS.

Brendan Webb, co-CEO of Cambridge Education Group says: “Our partnership with the University of Southampton represents a significant opportunity for international students to access a globally renowned university. For international students, the benefits of attending a Russell Group university are that they will have access to some of the world’s leading academics, innovative research projects and links to business. We are thrilled to be welcoming our first cohort to the University of Southampton International Pathway Centre this September.”

Students will be taught in a newly designed International Pathway Centre located in the heart of Southampton’s city centre and will have access to many of the University’s services. The University will welcome pathway students as part of our community from day one so that students are ready to transition to one of our undergraduate or master’s programmes from 2022. We expect the first cohort of students to commence their pathway studies with Cambridge Education Group from September 2021.
