Our story
Find out more about the impact of the IfLS across the University and further afield
The Institute for Life Sciences (IfLS) is celebrating its fourth anniversary and since the launch its members have demonstrably shown the power of interdisciplinarity in research. The impact and interests of IfLS members are reflected in the Institute’s new plans for research which are restructured around four grand challenges and where they are developing postgraduate and teaching engagement.
A community network has formed across the University through the work of the IfLS. This community is poised to make more contributions around research, enterprise and education and feed into regional and national aspirations embodied in the UK life sciences strategy.

The Institute has gone from strength to strength, with tangible and important developments in research and enterprise both across the University and with key industry and health partners, not least in the region. There is significant scope for further activities that respond to life sciences challenges and government priorities. The Institute is exceptionally well placed to deliver.
