Exam results 2020

The UK government has confirmed that A level results will be revised and students will receive grades based on their centre assessment. If your reissued A level grades meet or exceed the conditions of your offer, then we will confirm your place at the University of Southampton for September 2020 entry. In a few cases, where courses have very strict capacity constraints, including Medicine and Health Sciences, we may have to ask you to defer your place until September 2021. If there were non-academic conditions attached to your offer, we would expect you to meet them by 7 September 2020.

If your reissued grades are marginally below the conditions of your offer, we may be able to confirm your place at Southampton for September 2020 if there are places available on your chosen course.

You may choose to sit an exam, as soon as it is reasonably possible to do so in Autumn 2020, to improve your grades. If, having taken these exams, you meet or exceed your 2020 entry offer conditions to study at Southampton, we will guarantee you an offer of a place in 2021. You may need to submit a new application through UCAS in the normal way by the normal 15 January deadline.

In a small number of cases, the course you applied for in 2020 may not be running in 2021. In this case, we will not be able to offer you a guarantee of an offer but would encourage you to speak to the admissions team to discuss your options.

If you didn't find the answer to your question here, you can email our admissions team at admissions@soton.ac.uk.

We will update this page as more information becomes available.
