The Nexus-Science USRG continues to develop its strong links with South America to form collaborations ready to respond to future funding.

Nexus members, including Professor Paul Kemp, Dr Yue Zhang and Dr Ben Waterson joined eight visitors from South America on 7 February. Also attending was one of the UK partners from the Nexus GCRF consortium, Dr Jesse O'Hanley from the University of Kent Business School.

Discussions and group activities aimed to develop a plan that would bring similar hubs in Africa and Asia into the global Nexus partnership. Much of t he discussion centred on the need to create a scoping exercise to identify in all countries or areas under consideration, what are the baseline needs of those places. While the benefits of any research conducted will tend to be unequal it was recognised that everything undertaken would ultimately relate back to the core goal of alleviating poverty.
