40 undergraduate Ocean and Earth Science students have been presented with scholarships to reward academic achievement in Geology, Geophysics, Marine Biology and Oceanography subjects.

We aim to attract students of the highest calibre who will benefit from, and contribute to, the top-quality education on offer in Ocean and Earth Science. We are keen to recognise and reward high levels of academic excellence, and offer progression scholarships to those who have performed particularly well in the previous year of their programme of study.

SOES has recently presented scholarships to 40 students to commend their academic achievement. Scholarships worth £1000 were awarded to those current undergraduate students who progressed into the second and third year of their three-year degree, and who achieved the best aggregate marks for the year across all degree programmes.

Scholarships worth £1500 were presented to 10 third year students with the best aggregate marks, who continued into the fourth year of Master of Oceanography, Master of Geology, Master of Geophysics or Master of Marine Biology programmes.

Ten first year students also won £500 scholarships based on their excellent A-level performance prior to joining the University.

Dr Duncan Purdie, Deputy Head of Education, commends our recent scholarship winners, commenting: “The School is pleased to be able to offer these awards to support our students as they progress through their degree – we feel this scheme provides an additional incentive to aim for high achievement, and rewards students’ commitment to their subject. Our congratulations to all those who received SOES scholarships this year.”
