Event details

Calling all Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught Students

You are invited to be part of the fifth Meliora International Symposium of Student Sustainability Research - temporarily halted by Covid, but back for 2023!

The Meliora Symposium will take place on Thursday 8th June 2023, 10:00-15:00.

Established in 2016, students from across the UK and the rest of the world, attend and present their research at this prestigious International Symposium, and have the opportunity to submit work for publication in the Meliora International Journal of Student Sustainability Research as part of a Symposium Special Edition.

Development goals

The focus of the symposium is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Students from all courses in every academic discipline can relate their work to the SDGs - we confidently predict that your Research Dissertation relates to at least one of them! Take a look at all 17 SDGs. We know your research will be a perfect fit for the symposium, and as such this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your professional and academic skill set in an area working to make the world a better place.

We are looking for students to be involved in presenting or being part of the Symposium team in one or more of the following ways, each of which will bolster your CV and LinkedIn page (you can never have enough good material for that):

  1. Present your dissertation (Finalists or MSc students) or be part of a theme discussion (all years) at the Symposium
  2. Become a Meliora Ambassador and help promote the Symposium (all years)
  3. Become a Meliora Organising Committee member - includes the opportunity to chair a parallel session if you wish (all years)
  4. Attend the Symposium (all years)

For any (or all) of the above you can apply here: https://forms.gle/wPbixzXHDQAxVMeV6

The Ambassador roles will vary in terms of time commitments, but we will work efficiently and with your coursework and exam revision in mind. This is a great opportunity for you to distinguish yourself from the crowd, especially students at other institutions who do not have these opportunities by investing in yourself through enhancing your CV and LinkedIn profiles, as well as having extra points for discussion in job and intern interviews. We are awaiting confirmation, but hope to have a set of Digital Badges for the various roles that you will be able to use on your LinkedIn pages and emails.

If you are keen to register to attend the symposium (or just to find out a little more), you can get tickets from: https://meliora2023.eventbrite.co.uk
