Amy is a PhD Doctoral Researcher within the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences on the INSPIRE DTP. Her research involves identifying and forecasting eco-evolutionary respones of climate-sensitive pathogens to climate change, particularly water-borne Vibrio bacteria that cause diseases in humans.

Current research
Amy has generated a new framework to analyse environmental and genomic data in combination, to start to understand eco-evolutionary responses of climate-sensitive pathogens, including elucidating population dynamics and gene-level selective adaptation to environmental change. Particularly, she is exploring the drivers of the emergence and global expansion of a pandemic strain of Vibrio parahaemolyticus. She combines climate data and genomic analysis in machine learning applications to understand complex interactions, and predict future disease dynamics.

Biography
Amy has a BSc in Geography from the University of Exeter and an MSc in Earth Observation and Geoinformation Management from the University of Edinburgh. Previously she has spent time working for the European Space Agency's Climate Office, where she created machine learning models to forecast cholera outbreaks in India using environmental satellite data. In 2019, she won the Global Undergraduate Award for Earth & Environmental Sciences.
