Research interests

Submarine landslides, tsunamis, rapid climate change, the 8.2 ka BP event.

Research Project: Submarine mega-landslides and their connection to climate change

My research project focuses on a new core data set from the Nordic Seas. The main focus of this work is to accurately date the landslide, and place the event in the context of environmental changes. This work focuses on slides from the Storegga Slide Complex and those deposited within the Lofoten Basin. The dating methods used include radiocarbon, chemostratigraphy, oxygen isotope analysis, Coccolith biostratigraphy and tephrochronology.

Further to dating I am interested in sourcing the provenance of the slide deposits and linking distal deep water deposits to slide scars using ITRAX and ICP analysis of the mud caps.
