Mr Duncan Stevens is a postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

2017-2018: Research Technician, University of Southampton

2016-2017: Geophysicist (near surface/utilities), Zetica Ltd

2012-2016: MSci Geology, University of Southampton

Research interests

  • Subduction Zone Tectonics

Subduction zones are important zones of continental recycling, volatile transport to the oceans and are sites of significant seismic hazard. My research uses multichannel seismic reflection (MCS) data to assess how fault structure within subduction zone forearcs varies both along individual margins and between different margins; comparing the results with the thickness of sediment on the incoming plate, plate convergence rates and the obliquity of convergence.

Research project: Faults, fluids and geohazards at subduction zone forearcs
