Research interests

I am interested in understanding the effects of global climate change on the marine system, focusing on the Cenozoic era (last 65 Ma) when the Earth over time developed its modern climate. To do this I apply both palaeontological and geochemical methods to fossilised foraminifera from marine sediment cores looking at changes in ice-volume, temperature, productivity and biodiversity.

My research project involves producing new high-resolution stable isotope records of benthic and planktic foraminifera to understand the response and importance of the North Atlantic in the development of continental scale glaciers on Antarctica 34 million years ago.

Research project: A high-resolution investigation of the Eocene greenhouse climate state
