Mr Nicolas Bompard is Postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

BSc: Sciences of Living, “Life and Earth”, University Paris Diderot, France
MSc: Geochemistry, “Biogeosciences”, Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, France

I went to the University Paris 7 - Paris Diderot where I graduated with a Licence in Biology before doing a year in Biogeosciences and then obtained my Master's Degree in Geochemistry at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris (France). During my years at university I became interested in a variety of areas from sciences to languages as well as scuba diving.

For my two master's internships I worked on Iron speciation in Archean rocks during my first year and Iodine storage into borosilicates glasses during my second year. Those two projects allowed me to embrace the diversity of geosciences.

Research interests

My PhD project aims to have a better understanding of the carbonation process of mafic and ultramafic rocks.

Research project: Shallow mantle peridotite carbonation: feedback between fluid flow and alteration
