Miss Nikki Brown is Postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

2014 – present: studying for a PhD in physical oceanography, University of Southampton

I am interested in what drives circulation in the Arctic Ocean. My research draws on observational data from ships, moorings and satellites, as well as output from ocean models, to constrain the scale of overturning circulation in the Arctic and to understand the processes driving the underlying water mass transformations, and in particular the role of tidal energy conversion.

2013 – 2014: MSc Oceanography, University of Southampton

Research interests

  • High latitude ocean dynamics
  • Large scale ocean circulation
  • The role of sub-mesoscale processes

Research Projects: Thermodynamics and water mass transformation in the Arctic Ocean

Professor Sheldon Bacon

Professor Alberto Naveira Garabato
