Miss Naiyu Zhang is a postgraduate research student within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

2013-2016: Masters degree, Hohai University, Nanjing, China. Conducted lab experiments on the observation and analysing structure and settling velocity of cohesive sediment flocs.

2016-present: Begin PhD research in NOC, Southampton, by doing both lab and field work to investigate the movement and settlement of cohesive sediment.

Research interests

The flocculation, deposition, consolidation and movement of cohesive sediment considering the effects of organic matter and biological activity.

Research project: The flocculation dynamics of natural cohesive sediments and clay minerals with organic and metallic coatings
