Oliver Flanagan is a postgraduate research student in Marine Biogeochemistry, within Ocean and Earth Science, National Oceanography Centre Southampton at the University of Southampton.

2020 – Present: PhD Marine Biogeochemistry

2019 – 2020: MRes Ocean Science at the University of Southampton. His dissertation examined the biogeochemical processes controlling the distribution of particulate bioactive trace metals (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cd, & Cu) along the Western Antarctic Peninsula shelf

2016 – 2019: BSc (Hons) Environmental Science at the University of Portsmouth

Prior to this Oli trained and worked as a nurse primarily specialising in Trauma & Orthopaedics

Research interests

  • Macro/micro-nutrient biogeochemical cycling
  • Trace metal cycling under future climate change
