Geophysicists are well qualified science graduates who possess a comprehensive array of numeracy and literacy skills, and the flexibility to find employment in many career disciplines.
Our Geophysical degrees are designed to equip graduates with a broad range of geophysical skills and a wide knowledge of current research in the geophysical sciences as well as a wealth of other transferable skills.
Our graduates have found careers in geophysics either as seismologists and field observers working either overseas or in the UK with companies involved in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical data, mainly in connection with hydrocarbon and mineral exploration. Others have become well-logging engineers, computer programmers, meteorologists, marketing executives and teachers. Other graduates have opted to do postgraduate research and study in seismology, marine geophysics, physical oceanography, atmospheric physics and remote sensing.
