The paper "Variability in reference point microindentation and recommendations for testing cortical bone: Maximum load, sample orientation, mode of use, sample preparation and measurement spacing" has been published in JMBBM.

Reference Point Microindentation is a novel device with the potential to assess the material properties of bone to improve fracture risk assessment. However, as an emerging technique, there is limited evidence on how the device should best be applied to bone for reduced variability. This publication gives recommendations for use of the device and is presented in JMBBM (Elsevier), available here. These recommendations will be considered for the assessment of OStEO samples.
