Event details

Twice a year, the Sustainability Action team and partners provide the opportunity for staff and students to exchange their unwanted clothes for new items at the popular Southampton Swap Shop.

It's not only women's clothing here. There are sections for men's, kids', and everything from accessories to fancy dress.

Get kitted out without spending a fortune. Make some new friends, while seeing all that old stuff go to a good home.

Swap shop
  • Bring along your pre-loved clothes and accessories between 08.30 - 11.00 to The Cube (Building 42). Receive a token for every item you donate (maximum 10).  Items should be clean and in acceptable condition.
  • Receive a token for each item you donate, to a maximum of 10.
  • Swapping! Return between 12.00-14.00 to exchange your tokens for your new favourite clothes
  • Or, from 12.30 the Swap Shop is open now to anyone who'd like to buy items: £1 for clothes, 50p for accessories. Money made goes to SUSU RAG. Surplus items will be donated to British Heart Foundation (BHF).

Expect to see the second Swap Shop at WSA around May.

Did you know?

Around 30% of clothing in wardrobes has not been worn for at least a year.

Extending the average life of clothes by just three months of active use would lead to a 5-10% reduction in each of the carbon, water and waste footprints

An estimated 350,000 tonnes of used clothing goes to landfill in the UK every year.
